1. Describe the craftsmanship of your drawing. (Is it neat and well executed?)
It is mostly neat and well executed. There are some areas that could be improved but overall it is well crafted.
2. Do you think you used a full range of values to create the illusion of depth?
I use a full range of values to add highlights and shadows to different areas of the snake’s body. I also use a range of values on each scale to make each one defined.
3. How do you think you represented the style of the artist Georgia O’ Keeffe?
I represented Georgia O’Keeffe by focusing on the close up textures and colors of an object in nature rather than the whole image. I also represented her style by making a non abstract object abstract.
4. Describe your choice of colors/color harmonies and how you used them throughout the artwork.
I chose to use all green and cool colors throughout the piece. I used green as the main color and added accents of different cool toned colors to add different types of colors.
5. How did you create contrast in your drawing?
I created contrast by defining each different section of the piece with dark colors to separate them. I also added other colors so the whole piece was not just green.
6. How did you use textures, highlights and shadows to enhance your artwork?
I used the scaly and smooth texture on each individual scale to make each scale different. I use highlights and shadows to show where each scale ends and where they overlap.
7. Describe any difficulties you had creating your drawing and what you could do to improve your drawing?
It is hard to get all of the individual scales because they are all slightly different. It is also hard to portray the depth of the whole body of the snake. If I could do the piece over again I would have done a smaller piece because the individual scales take a long time to finish
