- Describe how you created an interesting point of view? Was it successful? Why or why not? I think it is a pretty interesting point of view. I would have liked to do something with more color or details. The colors fit well with the picture, but they are very neutral. I would have liked to see more bright colors.
- Why is it important to understand perspective and how to draw it? Perspective gives depth to a drawing. It also makes the drawing look realistic.
- How were the colored pencil exercises important in the success of your piece? They helped me practice picking the right colors for shadows, how to build colors, blend, show texture, and how to include other colors for depth.
- Describe the craftsmanship of your colored pencil. What techniques were used? (How well the project is technically crafted). I layered multiple shades of the colors i was using to build up the color. I also used light layers of other colors such as blues, purples, oranges, etc. to give depth to colors.
- Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain. Yes the foreground, background and middle ground are all there. One of the elements that could be improved is the middle ground. There is not a lot happening there, so it could be more interesting.
- Explain your experience with colored pencil and the project in general. What were the obstacles and advantages? Using the colored pencils is really good for nice colors and blending. It is a challenge for me to make defined lines and textures when doing so many layers.
- Looking back on the progression of this project what skills, techniques or other information would you like to have been taught? Do you feel you were prepared for this project? I feel all of the exercises we did helped me prepare, especially the prismacolor exercises. The only thing I would have liked to have been taught how to draw and color fur.

In this exercise we practiced using prismacolor colored pencils to shade, blend, and build colors. We drew spheres and fruits using different colors. We used both black and brown paper to test what the colors looked like on them.
In this exercise, we used a white prismacolor on black paper to practice values. We did a value chart and shapes to practice going from dark to light instead of light to dark. We also drew a ribbon to show shadows and depth.
1. Describe the craftsmanship of your drawing. (Is it clear, clean edges, blended well, smudges, defined space, etc.)
The drawing is very smudged and well blended. The lines and edges are not very well defined. 2. Are your values and shadows realistic? How many values did you include? How and why are values important? My values have a wide range and the shadows are somewhat realistic. I included at least ten values and have a good range. Values are important to show depth, texture and shadows. 3. Is there a clear source of lighting? There are some points of light, but I would have liked to include more light areas and created more shadows. 4. How important were the compositional sketches? Explain. The composotional sketches helped to create a good idea of what I should include in the drawin. This helped to create a good overall composition. 5. How is your final drawing successful? The main strength in my opinion is the shapes and proportion. The shapes are clear and it is easy to tell what all of the objects are, despite how crowded the still life is. 6. Are the proportions, structure and perspective of the subject correct? The proportions, structure, and perspective are all fairly accurate, and properly display the subject. 7. Does the placement & grouping of objects create a pleasing arrangement (composition)? The composition of the piece is good. There are no spots that are too empty or too crowded compared to the rest of the drawing. 8. Is there a center of interest and is it well located? The main center of interest is the shoe. It is well located because it is not in the dead center. 9. How well did you manage your time and resources throughout the process of creating this drawing? Do you see where you could improve in this area? I managed my time well, but the picture was very compilacted and detailed. In the future, I would pick a simpler perspective. 10. What challenges did you encounter during this project and how did you overcome them? The hardest part of this piece was shading everything and making sure it was all blended well. I overcame this by trying to use layers and using a white charcoal pencil and a smudging tool. 11. What have you learned drawing a still life? I have learned how to make a composition better, how to accurately show perspective, shading techiniques, how to use a charcoal pencil, and how to show texture. We studied fabric and how to draw its peaks and valleys and how to use values. We also practiced different mediums like pencil, charcoal pencil, and vine charcoal.
We set up various 3-D objects to practice shadow, depth, value, etc. We also drew various objects and did a value chart to practice using lights and darks and showing depth.
