My mentor is Hannah. We talked about different mediums and what kind of art we like to do. Her blog link is hsiegelart.weebly.com. What I found most interesting about her is that her favorite color is yellow.
The theme for this project was a little girl's room. I was inspired by my favorite color, pink. The hardest part of working in such a small space is sizing everything correctly so it fits in the space.I used acryilc paint to color the background paper and the window. I cut the charms out of paper and used yarn to hang them.
This was very relaxing to do. I first sketched the general shapes I wanted to fill in and then looked up some patterns and also just made some up as I went. It was hard drawing an eye in ink because the lines are hard to control and inconsistent. I made the eye the main focus of the piece. For my inspired ink piece, I saw a painting of a group of jellyfish using simple values and I did a similar piece but with only one. I put a puddle of ink down and blew air on it to get the tentacles.
this was hard to make because it is a complicated shape to cut out, so I solved this by finding ways to connect the different areas. I first traced an image and cut it out with an exacto knife. Then I taped it down and spray painted it. the most difficult part of this was making each side symmetrical. I solved this by re doing it a lot. First I found a picture online of a bumblebee and then I sketched it and colored it in with colored pencils.

I picked watercolor because it was the medium that inspired me. Its similar to the piece It was inspired by because they are both watercolor landscapes. It is different because I chose my own landscape to paint. The texture of the trees is what I think worked best. If i did it over again I would change the way I colored the shadow of the mountain. My art movement was futurism. It started in Italy in the early 20th century and uses dark, futuristic themes such as airplanes, machinery, violence, urban settings, and geometric shapes. I did my cartoon character using geometric shapes to show the style of it.
Our theme was "the library" and this photo is the best because it uses lines and perspective to draw the eye into the focus point |
